Folks, if you visit, Sugar Creek, Walnut Creek, Berlin on SR 39 in Holmes County Ohio, be sure to check out Mudd Valley Cafe, located on the 2nd floor of the Walnut Creek Cheese complex aka Grocery store. This place offers the best place to enjoy lunch at a great price that is budget friendly for sure. Enter thru the Walnut Creek Cheese grocery store and head past the meat and Ice Cream counter to the Elevator. This elevator will take you to the 2nd floor, or head up the stairs adjacent to the bakery counter if you prefer. Mudd Valley offers a great lunch option anything from a great hot dog, grilled cheese to a lunch buffet option. They offer a great menu that will satisfy everyone in your party at a price that wont break the bank. Plenty of seating and booths. We like to grab a booth that overlooks the grocery store below and enjoy people watching as we enjoy our lunch. Once you order you will be given a pager type of device that will scare the crap out of you when it goes off, so you can head to the counter to retrieve your food order. They have a fix its table if you need additional toppings. Be sure to check out the silver ware GREEN MONSTER that with a puch of a button it delivers your choice of silverware in plastic form. The food is cooked to order and served hot and fresh. You can also select premade salads and drinks options as well. Be sure to try the Amish Macaroni salad my personal favorite. Here are a few photos from our September 2025 visit. Mudd Valley is a must for a lunchtime meal. You know its going to be good when all of the tour buses stop by.

1st visit to the Cafe even tho we’ve been to the market many times. Loved the food, plenty of places to sit and the booths were especially comfortable with a nice view of the store below. Use stairs or elevator and the toppings cart was fabulous!! Really liked it but only one out of the four empty booths in the area we chose to sit at was clean and when ordering my wife asked what the stack was which the waitress explained very well only to tell us they take it down an hour before they close and we were 10 minutes too late. I think she could have handled that a little differently. Prices were good too. Plenty of parking. At 2 on a Saturday restaurant was less than half full Second attempt at getting the stack!! Score!!

The food here was delicious and well priced, especially the burger! The restaurant was cute and right over a great grocery. A wonderful place to eat in Amish Country!

Eaten at Toddle Inn?

Tell us what you ordered and what it cost. Two or three sentences about one dish is more useful to the next person than a star rating.
